Government declares Porn a Public Health Crisis

Utah Capitol

Two American States have now declared pornography a public health crisis, with two more on the way, while the church is lagging behind with only 7% of pastors saying that they have a program for those struggling with porn.

Utah, the State with the highest consumption of porn per person, was the first state to pass a resolution declaring pornography as a public health crisis. They have recently been joined by South Dakota on January 31, with both houses unanimously voting in favor of a similar resolution.

It doesn’t stop there! A measure recognizing pornography as leading to individual and societal harms was passed by the Virginia State House with a landslide majority of 82-8, while Tennessee’s Senate Health and Wellbeing committee recommended a similar resolution on March 1st.

On March 7th Bill 337 was introduced in Florida which, if passed, will prohibit the sale of certain devices if they are not sold with active filtering software designed to block sexually explicit material.

Meanwhile, President Trump also signed a pledge during his campaign last August to defend the innocence and dignity of America’s children by enforcing the existing federal laws and advancing public policies designed to, “prevent the sexual exploitation of children online and to make the Internet safer for all.”

So why the movement to declare porn a public health crisis?

Because it is!

Jeremy Wiles who directed a film series that helps men break free from porn, had the opportunity to interview several brain experts in the making of the Conquer Series. “I interviewed a neuroscientist who showed me brain SPECT scans of a normal brain, a heroin addicted brain and a porn addicted brain. The porn addicted brain had the greatest deterioration in brain activity” says Wiles.

When a mother is breastfeeding her child, her brain releases neurochemicals that bond her to her child. When you watch porn, these same powerful neurochemicals such as dopamine are released, which bond you to those images. This is why Satan attacks our sexuality so much, because in attacking human sexuality it actually interferes with human bonding. According to neuropsychologist, Dr. Tim Jennings from the Conquer Series, “Any type of repetitive behavior will create trails in our brain that are going to fire on an automatic sequence.” The result is years of bondage.

Churches should be the hospitals in this health crisis, but very few have something to offer when it comes to sexual discipleship.

In a 2016 Barna Group research study commissioned by Josh McDowell Ministry, church leadership indicated that this problem is much bigger than it was 20 years ago, yet only 7% of Pastors said they have a ministry program for those struggling with porn.

Thankfully, there is a solution!

Thousands of churches in over 50 countries are beginning to run the Conquer Series, a Cinematic Study to help men conquer porn and walk in freedom. FIND OUT MORE.

Dr. Ted Roberts, host of the Conquer Series, who has counselled thousands of men to freedom from pornography, discusses why so many people in the church can’t stop viewing porn. Churches often treat this issue as a moral one, but fail to recognize it’s mainly a brain problem, “We tell men to try harder, pray harder, love Jesus more.” Dr. Roberts adds, “But, what starts off as a moral problem, quickly becomes a brain problem. Telling a man to try harder is only tightening the ‘noose’ of bondage.”

Through the Conquer Series, men learn a Grace-based approach using proven principles and biblical strategies. It has become “ground zero” for the movement of men who are conquering porn. It presents the battle plan for purity. Over 350,000 men have gone through the 5-week course. The Conquer Series is a 6-disc DVD set, which also includes a leader’s DVD. There is currently a 14-day money back guarantee.

Bur GUNS everywhere is fine. Porn will kill you but as least you won’t go out with a BANG.

    • gammie

Dumb comment. People who “legally” possess guns are NOT killing people.

      • Jack Van Gorder

They’re not? You mean that of the 80 to 90 people killed each and every day in this country by guns, none were killed by “legal” owners of guns. Gee, I didn’t know that. Thanks for the info.

    • Gaynor henry

Depends on your definition of bang.

      • Jack Van Gorder

I thought about that as I typed but I figured on this moronic website, nobody would see the irony.

        • Gaynor henry

Lol! I laughed as soon as I saw it. 😉

68% of Christian men watch porn?!?!? Now you have my curiosity up – OMG it was easy to find – just type “porn” into your search bar – there is everything from pics to 2 hour movies available and it seems to be free. One page had the addresses of 10 other porn sites. There is something for everybody (well almost everybody) – there was some “hot stuff” on there but not as good as being at home.

    • Jack Van Gorder

Some of us are not lucky enough to own a porn library. We are stuck with surfing the sites.

      • Ken says

From what I read on a couple sites – you can down load and make your own library – if that is your bag – go for it….lol

        • Jack Van Gorder

Few folks see the ridiculousness of complaining about porn. Hell, we watch people getting killed every day on network TV. Or, worse yet, all of the TV Evangelists scamming little old ladies for their share of their S.S. Checks. Porn is harmless, unless, of course, you turn the lights off during the act. LOL

  • Gaynor henry

Is this a joke? My husband and I, have ZERO interest in porn in any way shape or form. My own feeling is that if you have a sufficiently exciting and regular, sex life, porn isn’t necessary for normal people.

    • Cindy

Sadly, not a joke. You are very lucky in your relationship. Children at school are also very high risk- with both boys and girls. (The rates of usage between the two are surprisingly not far apart).

      • Jack Van Gorder

Yeh, when we were young, we were stuck with nudist mags and Victoria Secret ads, but we made do.

    • Jack Van Gorder

What is “exciting and regular” for a Right Wing Evangelical is lacking for us Catholics.

  • Beeker D.

Funny&Strange that it’s a problem in Utah and South Dakota? While here in ‘TAXUFORNIA’, porn is more prevalent than Stop Signs, Asphalt Streets and Socio-Fascist Taxation!

And that’s why many Californians have brain damage😜

      • Gary Jensen

Those that are lucky to survive flee the state.

      • Jack Van Gorder

Yeh, could be, probably from lack of blood flow, the blood was needed elsewhere. Many with that “4 hour” problem you see advertised on TV.

      What is your favorite site?

  • West Winds

I don’t get it. Talking about “porn” is like talking about the cellophane wrapper on a package of vegetables from the grocery store. How about talking about content? What is it about porn that rots the brain? The female figure? The fact that men get aroused by females? (Oh that naughty Mother Nature always looking for those babies…) Or is it the degrading way in which women are portrayed? Isn’t it just a little disingenuous to decry porn while subscribing to the “compliant submission” of women to men altogether? Just look at the Anglican marriage vows where the woman promises to love, honor, “and obey” her new owner but there are no such reciprocal demands being made on the males. I find it ironic that the church will decry porn but turn a blind eye to husbands “disciplining” their wives (aka slapping them around). You have a very weird sense of right and wrong. How about we get rid of the denigrating porn AND stop demanding women submit and obey AND stop supporting the innately disrespectful hitting of women no matter what the situation? Then you might start to make some sense. Or is all of this just another business opportunity for the churches?
PS If you take a man and a woman, both the same height and weight, the male is five times stronger anatomically.
Therefore, no male should ever hit a women. Better yet, no one hits anyone; no hitting. If you’ve got a beef, sit down like grown-ups and talk it out. If you can’t do it yourselves, get professional help, or quietly go your separate ways with a divorce. Nobody should be hitting anyone or anything (animals). Enough with the violence already.

    • Jack Van Gorder

Interesting that you would include “animals” in your rant. I stumble across those sites occasionally but they don’t interest me.

      • West Winds

#Jack Van Gorder: It shouldn’t be “interesting”. It should be par for the course. It is a well known medical fact that people who are sociopaths and psychopaths have a distinct inability to empathize with animals; it’s a “marker” for anti-social behavior and “disturbed thinking”.

  • socialismisevi!

by making it a “public health issue”

it can then get tax money funding etc

  • bilbo baggins

the reason ….. and i mean the REAL reason………that porn is now a health issue and not a speech issue( and it is a SPEECH issue) is because that as a speech issue there is nothing they can do about it. but change it to a health issue and now there is alot of things they can do( up to and including invade your privacy LEGALLY ) . start monitering your internet usage and pretty much put anyone thur a legal nightmare they want. if people want to keep there privacy they had better start fighting NOW or they may wake up one day and find there right to privacy as been striped in the name of ” the public good”
